Gold dips as US dollar recovers

Gold futures closed lower in the domestic market on Wednesday as a key U.S. dollar benchmark shook off nearly all of its earlier weakness. The dollar recouped much of its earlier weakness amid ongoing concerns over the progress of a U.S. tax overhaul and the latest data on U.S. inflation. At the MCX, gold futures for December 2017 contract ended at Rs 29531 per 10 grams, down by 0.31 per cent, after opening at Rs 29,600 against a previous close of Rs 29,622. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 29,500.
