Gold futures closed lower in the domestic market on Friday as record highs for key U.S. stock market indexes lured investors away from the precious metal. Gold fell despite a decline for the U.S. dollar, but prices remained underpinned by geopolitical tensions on the Korean Peninsula and after a suspected terror explosion on a London Underground train injured up to 23 people. At the MCX, gold futures for October 2017 contract ended at Rs 29860 per 10 grams, down by 0.50 per cent, after opening at Rs 30,022 against a previous close of Rs 30,010. It touched the intra-day low of Rs 29,825.
